Recapping Viral Videos-Romantic Budget Meal
Welcome to another video recap, where I share tips, and secret recipes so YOU can become a chef from home! This week I collaborated with chef Amanda Freitag from NYC to create a romantic budget meal for you and your special person.

<$20 Romantic Budget Meal>

Chef Amanda Freitag is a world renowned chef and a TV personality who competed as an Iron Chef title contender and served as a regular judge on Chopped. Im excited to see how she’ll prepare a perfect date night meal with ingredients under $20. The romantic budget meal she’s creating is steak with potato pommes and béarnaise sauce. This recipe is so fitting for a romantic dinner, and yet surprisingly simple to recreate.

Peel the yukon potatoes and use a mandolin to create thin round slices.
Then layer the potatoes around the pan, into a flower-like shape. Add salt and black pepper to taste. Add butter and sear.
Add the potatoes into the oven and broil at the highest setting for about 5-10 minutes until the top layer is golden and crispy. Your pommes anna is finished.
After seasoning the steak with salt and pepper, sear on both sides for about two minutes each.
To make the béarnaise sauce, add egg yolks, lemon juice, salt, and melted butter. Blend well with hand blender until a fluffy and gooey consistency is achieved. Add in finely chopped tarragon leaves.
Plate and Enjoy!
Secret To Making This Dish:
#1: To make a crispy yet soft potato pommes(or pommes anna), it’s important to briefly cover the pan with the lid to steam the potatoes before putting them in the oven for the crispy outer layer and a soft inside.
#2: Considered to be the world’s best steak sauce to many, the secret to a successful béarnaise sauce is making sure the butter is not too hot that it will cook the egg yolks.
